East Meets West
In Spring 2010, students had the rare opportunity to studied the arts of Thailand and China. The integration of Eastern and Western styles of painting is a subject that Mrs. Lunati has explored extensively as an artist for two decades. She was a champion of the notion of East Meets West before it received worldwide recognition in art circles. Students of Asian American and non Asian American came together for a cultural exchange. The imagery in the paintings were derived from classical Thai and Chinese paintings, artifacts, and sculptures. Traditional ink and watercolor where used for the Chinese art while the Thai art was executed with an acrylic in a contemporary style.
